We usually don't think of cashmere when we choose our beach outfit. It is well known for its softness and warming qualities. But in summer, cashmere reveals a different side.
Because the fibers are so exceptionally fine, cashmere can be woven into an almost weightless fabric — airy, fluid, and light enough to fold into the smallest bag. A finely woven wrap feels barely there on the skin, moving with the breeze rather than resisting it. It naturally repels water, so a spray of sea water will not soak it immediately.
It isn’t made for the water itself — but for sun-warmed shoulders, salty air, and cooler evenings by the shore, few fabrics feel as effortless.

Laya grew naturally out of how we travel, observe, and live. Coming from backgrounds in technology, design, and storytelling, we’ve spent years moving slowly through different cultures, paying attention to everyday materials—especially fabric. Along the way, we developed a deep respect for textiles as practical, enduring objects shaped by climate, tradition, and use. Laya reflects that belief: creating pieces that are made with intention, meant to last, and designed to quietly connect you to the people and cultures behind them.
